Love The 90s Festival brings a full hit-packed lineup to Dreamland on 11th July, with familiar chart voices and dancefloor favourites ready to take you straight back to the era of pop bangers and hands-in-the-air club anthems. With appearances from Claire Richards of Steps, Louise, Natasha Hamilton of Atomic Kitten, Basshunter, DJ Sammy and plenty more, it is shaping up to be wall-to-wall throwbacks.
Expect big choruses, bold outfits and a crowd that knows every word. Dreamland’s open-air setting adds to the atmosphere, turning the whole evening into a neon-lit celebration of the decade that gave us some of the most unapologetically fun music around. It is the perfect excuse to dig out the old classics, gather your mates and make a proper summer weekend of it.
But why just stay for the show? Turn your ticket into a three-night getaway filled with good food, vintage charm, and that fresh sea breeze and sunset Margate is known for.
Book your 3-night stay now for the best spot by the sea in Dream Land Cottage AirBnB that sleeps up to 10 people.
Why stay for three nights instead of just one?
Margate isn’t just a backdrop to the gig, it’s a destination in its own right. Skip the post-show rush back for the last train or the overpriced hotel, and give yourself time to unwind, explore, and actually enjoy the weekend.
- No stress catching the last train or finding a last-minute hotel
- Time to explore Margate’s food, art and beach scene
- Space to unwind before and after the gig
- A proper weekend away that turns one night of music into a mini holiday!
Dream Land Cottage is just a short 8 minute walk from Dreamland and we’ve put together a three night itinerary for you to get the most out of your stay.
Thursday evening: Arrive and settle in
Jump on a train from London straight after work and be in Margate less than 90 minutes later. Alternatively drive down to Margate and park in one of the three parking spaces available at Dream Land Cottage AirBnB.
Depending on when you arrive, drop your bags, pick your room and head out to get your first taste of Margate.
- Take a sunset walk along Margate Main Sands
- Need food? Grab a pizza at GB Pizza or get Fish & Chips at Peter’s Fish Factory to accompany your sunset walk
- Want a quiet drink? Try Xylo the seaside microbrewery, The Two Halves (to grab a takeaway beer to sit on the Margate steps with) or The Imperial to enjoy a drink with a sunset view.
- Feeling lazy? Do none of the above and get fish & chips from our favourite, Alfie’s, a 3 minute walk from the house or go and enjoy a beer or two in the Princess of Wales. Princess of Wales.
Friday: Explore Margate
Your one day off work is a full day of exploring! Alternatively, use the high-speed broadband available at Dream Land Cottage to “work from home”.
Morning:
- Grab coffee and breakfast down at the Bus Café on The Sun Deck.
- Feeling competitive? Take the short walk to Strokes Adventure Golf course and enjoy the sea views whilst you sink a few putts.
- Want to really relax? Book a sauna and ice plunge at the Sea Scrub Sauna.
Afternoon:
- Stick to the beach and enjoy Margate Main Sands with a sandy beach that Brighton would be proud of.
- Visit the Turner Contemporary art gallery to see the latest art installations.
- Wander through Margate Old Town which is full of vintage shops, galleries and indie cafés.
Evening:
- For dinner, try Pomus off the high street for small and large plates.
- Sargasso on the harbour for a coastal inspired wine bar and restaurant.
- If you fancy a walk up past the Turner gallery towards the Lido, Lilie’s Margate does great tapas and comes highly recommended!
Saturday: Gig Day at Dreamland
Morning:
- Cook a fry-up in the house. There’s a five burner gas grill in the kitchen with double oven, or if you fancy one al fresco style, there’s a 4 burner gas BBQ in the garden.
- Can’t be bothered to cook? Have a slow start with coffee and pastries at The Margate Coffee Shed
- Take a stroll up the coast to Walpole Bay to the largest tidal pool in the UK and have a dip. Beach towels are provided in Dream Land Cottage AirBnB.
Afternoon:
- Whilst some rides are open at the beginning of a gig night, now is the time to try out Dreamland if you want the full vintage theme park experience and a taste of the evening’s scenery.
- If you want to keep it a surprise until later, try out a few of the local pubs around Margate.
- Rose in June for some nice outside space and Hays Burgers pop-up for locally sourced beefburgers and wings
- Barnacles on the seafront. Screens inside for sport and loads of benches outside to sit in the sun. You can get food from The Old Kent Market next door and eat it outside on the benches.
- The Imperial for great Meze platters. They do a bottomless brunch on a Saturday from 12pm – 8pm (Book in advance).
- Fez along the high street for the weird and quirky interior. Enjoy a drink or two whilst sat in waltzer cars, hair dresser chairs or even an old ride-on lawnmower!
- Head back to the AirBnB to get ready, chill out and enjoy a drink in the garden on the large decking area.
Evening:
- Grab early evening drinks at Cinque Ports right by the venue of you can (it gets busy). Alternatively, the Princess of Wales pub has a large beer garden and is en route to Dreamland from the AirBnB.
- The gig! Enjoy Love the 90’s Fest at Dreamland, one of the UK’s most unique music venues.
- After the show take the short walk back to Dream Land Cottage Margate AirBnB and enjoy no trains, no taxis and no stress!
Sunday: Recover and departure
- For a great post-gig breakfast we highly recommend Cafe Darcy for a wide choice of breakfasts from Eggs Benedict, American style pancake stacks as well as your traditional English breakfast.
- If we can, we offer a late check-out where available.
- If you’re going to make the most of your Sunday in Margate, The George & Heart do an excellent roast in a grade II listed building dating back to the 18th century.
